Bo G Jansson föddes 1949 i Uppsala och tog bibliotekarieexamen vid Högskolan i Borås 1986. Han disputerade 1990 vid Uppsala universitet. Åren 1992-1996 var han anställd som svensk lektor och forskare i litteraturvetenskap vid Institut for Nordisk Sprog och Litteratur vid Aarhus universitet och undervisade samtidigt periodvis vid Institutionen för litteraturvetenskap vid Uppsala universitet.  Han anställdes 1996 som universitetslektor i litteraturvetenskap vid Högskolan Dalarna. Tjänstledig 1999-2000 och då universitetslektor i litteraturvetenskap vid Högskolan Karlskrona/Ronneby. Docent i litteraturvetenskap vid Högskolan Dalarna 2005. Professor i litteraturvetenskap vid Högskolan Dalarna 2010.

Bo G Jansson var under åren 2007-2011 forskningsledare för etableringsområdet Världsarvets Världar (WHILD = the World Heritages: Global Discourse and Local Implementations) vid Högskolan Dalarna.  Han är från och med 2012 forskningsledare för forskningsprofilen Kultur, identitet och gestaltning vid Högskolan Dalarna.

Forskningsinriktning
Bo G Janssons forskning är inriktad främst mot berättelseteoretiska problem samt mot relationerna mellan premodern scenkultur, modern bokkultur och postmodern skärmkultur. Hans viktigaste publikationer är de fyra monografierna Postmodernism och metafiktion i Norden (1996), Episkt dubbelspel: om faktionsberättelser i film, litteratur och tv (2006), Falu gruva i skönlitteraturen (2011) samt Ljuga vitt och brett utan att ljuga: den svenska prosaberättelsen i den postmoderna skärmkulturens tidevarv: filosofisk grund, innehåll och form (2013).

Bo G Jansson was born in 1949 in Uppsala and in 1986 took his degree in Librarianship at the University of Borås. In 1990, he defended his doctoral thesis at Uppsala University. Between the years of 1992 and 1996, he was employed as Senior Lecturer of Swedish and Researcher in Comparative Literature at the Institute of Scandinavian Languages and Literature at Aarhus University in Denmark, while also teaching periodically at the Department of Literature, Uppsala University.

It was in 1996 that he was employed as Senior Lecturer in Comparative Literature at Dalarna University. During his sabbatical, 1999-2000, he served as Senior Lecturer in Comparative Literature at Blekinge Institute of Technology. He became Docent in Comparative Literature at Dalarna University in 2005 and in 2010 Professor.

From 2007 until 2011, Bo G Jansson was Head of Research for World Heritages: Global Discourse and Local Implementations (WHILD) at Dalarna University. From 2012, he will be the Head of Research for the research profile Culture, Identity and Representations.

Bo G Jansson’s research focuses mainly on issues of narrative theory as well as on the relationship between pre-modern stage culture, modern print culture and post-modern screen culture. Whereas the pre-modern stage culture communication is oral and interactive, the communication of modern book culture is written and one-directional. Yet post-modern screen culture once again takes up certain aspects from pre-modern communication such as the oral (TV) and the interactive (social media, Internet).

Bo G Jansson’s most important publications are the four monographs Postmodernism och metafiktion i Norden (1996); Episkt dubbelspel: Om faktionsberättelser i film, litteratur och tv (2006) (which includes an appendix in English entitled ”Paratexts and the Limits of Narratology”); Falu gruva i skönlitteraturen (2011) and Ljuga vitt och brett utan att ljuga: den svenska prosaberättelsen I den postmoderna skärmkulturens tidevarv: filosofisk grund, innehåll och form (2013).
