Celeste Chariandy, forskningsassistent i vetenskapskommunikation, förordnad 7/7-16.
Celeste Chariandy is the holder of a Bachelor of Science degree (Zoology) and Master of Philosophy degree (Plant Science) from the University of the West Indies, Trinidad and a Masters degree in Science Communication from Hogskolan Darlana, Sweden. She is pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Human Communication Studies at the University of the West Indies, Trinidad. Celeste worked for thirteen years at the National Institute of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (NIHERST) where she engaged in projects associated with communicating science to a wide range of audiences, including development of video documentaries, children’s science magazines and hands-on activities based on science concepts. Her background in both science and the humanities enabled her to become very effective as a facilitator of workshops, lecturer and writer on science-related issues, including environmental issues, climate change, protected area management and in ‘demystification’ of science. She has also contributed to publications on the communication of science and use of communication products and pathways by civil society organisations. Her past work included activities funded by the UNFAO, UNDP, UNWomen, UNESCO, CDKN and ICGEB.
